Uganda Gorilla Tour- 5 Day Amazing Rwanda

Uganda Gorilla Tour, this 5 day safari will start and end in Kigali.  It will involve gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and in Bwindi National Park in Uganda; tracking Golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park; and visiting Karisoke Research Centre established by Dian Fossey, an American primatologist who dedicated all her life conserving the primates in this region. It will end with a visit to the Genocide memorial at Gisozi for a tribute to the victims of the Rwandan genocide.

TOUR DETAILS

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

On arrival at the airport your will be met by your safari guide who will drive you straight to the Volcanoes National Park.

Time allowing you may go for a nature walk and meet the local people before retiring to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla tracking

You will have an early breakfast and after which you will be driven to the Park headquarters for briefing at 8:30am about the rules on Gorilla tracking. You will be allocated a Gorilla family to track and the guides to lead you to the Gorillas. The tracking experience will be a 2-5 hour experience after which you will be returned to the lodge for lunch.

You will later in the afternoon be taken on a nature walk after which you will retire to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Golden Monkey tracking-Dian Fossey hike-Drive to Bwindi

You will have breakfast and then assemble at the Park head quarter for a briefing on the Golden monkey tracking rules before going out to track them in the forest. You will have lunch and later hike up to Karisoke Research Centre established by Dian Fossey, an American primatologist who dedicated all her life conserving primates.

You will later cross over to Bwindi impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda.

Day 4: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi National Park

You will have an early breakfast and be driven to the Park Headquarters for a briefing on the rules of Gorilla trekking. After the briefing, you will set for the trekking in very thick vegetation. Trekking gorillas in Bwindi– Uganda is quite challenging as it involves moving over rugged terrain of steep slopes and valleys. The jungle is very lively with rich forest sounds. The trek ranges between 2 – 8 hours and you have one hour to stay with the Gorillas once sited.

In the evening you can opt for a community walk among the Batwa people who used to live in the Bwindi forest before it was gazetted as a National Park and learn about their life and culture as forest people.

Day 5: Drive to Kigali

After breakfast you will transfer to Kigali about 4 hours’ drive from Bwindi. The journey is quite charming with scenic views of Kigezi highlands, Virunga Volcanoes and hills of Rwanda. You will have lunch in Kigali and after a short rest be taken to the Genocide memorial at Gisozi to pay tribute to the victims of Rwandan genocide before leaving for the airport to catch your flight back home.
