Itinerary

Day 1: Parc Nationale Des Volcanoes

You will have an early breakfast and set off for Parc Nationale des Volcanoes. You will check in at the lodge of your booking, have lunch and take some rest. You will spend the rest of the day sightseeing and relaxing around the hotel till dinner time.

Midrange: La Palme Hotel / Volcanoes Gorilla Lodge
Budget: Kinigi Guest House / Muhavura Safari Lodge
Meal plan: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Pac des Volcanoes

You will have an early breakfast and report at the Park Headquarters for a briefing on the rules to be observed during Gorilla trekking. You will be allocated a Gorilla family to track and guides to lead you to the Gorillas. The tracking will take 2-5 hours. Once found, you will spend a maximum of one hour observing the gorillas in their natural setting.

After the tracking you will return to the hotel for lunch and spend the rest of the day relaxing at your hotel.

Day 3: Cross to Uganda, Visit Lake Burela

You will have breakfast and set off for Uganda. You will cross the border and visit Lake Burela before heading to Kisoro town for your dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking Adventure in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will have an early breakfast and be driven to the Park Headquarters for a briefing at 7:30am about the rules of Gorilla tracking. After the briefing, you will set off for the Gorilla hunt in the thick jungle. The jungle is very lively with rich forest sounds. The trek ranges between 2 – 8 hours and you have one hour to stay with the Gorillas once sited. In the afternoon you can opt for a community walk among the Batwa people who used to live in the Bwindi forest before it was gazetted as a National Park and learn about their life and culture as a forest people. You will have dinner and overnight at your previous lodge.

Day 5: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National park

You will have an early breakfast and head to Ishasha, which is the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park for a game drive. Ishasha is dominated by acacia woodland and scrubland and features the meandering Ishasha River, banked by a riparian forest. This part of the park is renowned for the tree-climbing lions that, if you are lucky, will be sighted resting up in the tree branches. You will have picnic lunch and transfer to the northern sector of the park to the lodge of your booking.

Day 6: Game drive & Boat launch in Queen Elizabeth

You will wake up early with a packed breakfast and have an early morning game drive during which you will see Lions, various Antelope species, Elephants, Hyenas, Leopards and Buffaloes. You will then return to the lodge for lunch. You will later in the afternoon go for a two hour boat cruise down the Kazinga Channel that connects Lakes Edward and George and is filled with schools of hippos, buffaloes and elephants at the banks.. This launch cruise rewards you with a great opportunity to see these water animals, take photos and watch birds.

Day 7: Return to Kigali for departure

You will have breakfast and set off for Rwanda. Time allowing you will visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Museum in Kigali before transferring to the airport for your outbound departure flight.
