Detailed Day-by-Day Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Entebbe / Kampala – Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala (or Entebbe International Airport if arriving before 11:00 AM). After a detailed safari briefing by your professional guide, you begin a scenic drive westwards toward Kibale Forest National Park, Uganda’s premier chimpanzee tracking destination.

The journey takes you through traditional Ugandan villages, fertile farmlands, and rolling green hills. You will observe daily rural life as locals tend to crops such as millet, maize, beans, and bananas.

As you approach Fort Portal, the scenery transforms dramatically into vast tea plantations stretching across the foothills of the legendary Rwenzori Mountains a stunning photographic moment.

In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walk in Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run conservation area famous for primates and birdlife. Expect to see blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, baboons, otters, bushbucks, and spectacular birds like the Great Blue Turaco.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale National Park

Today you experience one of Africa’s most thrilling primate encounters chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park.

After breakfast, transfer to the Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a ranger-led briefing. You then enter the forest in small groups, guided by expert trackers.

Kibale Forest is home to over 1,500 chimpanzees and 13 primate species, making it the richest primate habitat in East Africa. The trek usually lasts 1–3 hours, depending on the chimpanzees’ location.

Once found, you are allowed one full hour observing chimpanzees as they feed, groom, play, hunt, and vocalize in their natural environment an unforgettable wildlife experience.

On the return walk, keep an eye out for forest elephants, buffaloes, and rare birds such as the green-breasted pitta and crowned eagle.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, depart for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

The journey is long but exceptionally scenic, passing through crater lakes, highland farms, banana plantations, and dramatic mountain landscapes. Depending on conditions and gorilla permit allocation, the route may pass through Ishasha Sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions.

You arrive in Bwindi in the afternoon, where misty forest canopies and birdsong welcome you to one of Africa’s most ancient rainforests.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

This is the highlight of your Uganda safari mountain gorilla trekking.

After breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You are assigned a gorilla family and begin your trek through dense rainforest and bamboo-covered slopes.

The trek can last 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once located, you spend one magical hour in proximity (within 6 -7 meters), observing gorillas as they feed, interact, nurture their young, and move through the forest.

Bwindi is also a biodiversity hotspot, hosting 350 bird species, 120 mammal species, and countless plant varieties.

After the trek, return to your lodge for relaxation and reflection.

Day 5: Fly Bwindi – Entebbe – Kilimanjaro – Arusha

After breakfast, transfer to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip for your scenic domestic flight to Entebbe International Airport (approx. 1.5 hours).

You connect to your international flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport in Tanzania. Upon arrival, you are warmly received by our Tanzania team and transferred to Arusha, the safari capital of northern Tanzania.

Day 6: Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park, nestled beneath the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

Enjoy a full game drive exploring diverse habitats groundwater forests, open savannah, and soda lakes. Lake Manyara is famous for:

  • Tree-climbing lions
  • Large elephant herds
  • Giraffes, buffaloes, hippos
  • Over 400 bird species, including flamingos and pelicans

After the game drive, transfer to Mto wa Mbu for overnight.

Later, drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
