This 15 Days Ultimate Rwanda Uganda Safari itinerary will take place in Rwanda and Uganda. Arriving in Rwanda via Kigali International Airport and departing through Entebbe International Airport in Uganda. In Rwanda you will visit Akagera, Nyungwe and Volcanoes National Parks having helicopter transfers from one destination to another and in Uganda you will visit Bwindi Impenetrable and Queen Elizabeth National Parks. In Rwanda you will enjoy game drives, a boat ride on Lake Ihema and a community visit in Akagera, Chimpanzee trekking, Canopy walk and Colobus Monkey trekking in Nyungwe, Gorilla and Golden Monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park. In Uganda you will trek the Gorillas in Bwindi and enjoy a game drive and a boat ride on the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park. At the end of the tour you will take a domestic flight enjoying the beautiful aerial views from Mweya Airstrip to Entebbe International Airport to catch your departure flight.

Day 1:  ARRIVAL

After you arrive Kigali International Airport, clear with immigration and proceed to the arrivals where you will meet your driver guide who will transfer you to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2:  HELICOPTER FLIGHT FROM KIGALI TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK, EVENING GAME DRIVE

After breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport to take your helicopter flight to Akagera National Park, where you will meet your driver guide who will transfer you to your lodge for check in. After lunch at the lodge relax and in the evening you will go for a game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.

Day 3:  FULL DAY AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK

On this day after breakfast, you will proceed for a boat ride on Lake Ihema and have a chance to visit an Island which inhabits a variety of bird species. After lunch you will enjoy a game drive in the park. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.

Day 4: MORNING COMMUNITY VISIT AND EVENING GAME DRIVE

After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge proceed for a morning community visit. During this tour you will experience the basic lives of the community living around this park. You will learn their culture, practices and how they go about their normal activities daily. After lunch at the lodge you will have an evening game drive in the park.

Day 5: HELICOPTER FLIGHT FROM AKAGERA TO NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast at your Lodge proceed to take your helicopter flight to Nyungwe National Park where you will be picked up by your driver guide and transferred to the lodge. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 6:  CHIMPANZEE TREKKING AND CANOPY WALK

On this day you will depart the Resort with packed breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for briefing then proceed to the starting points into the forest. During this trek you will see a variety of bird species and the Primates. You will be allowed to stay in the presence of the

In the afternoon, you will once again proceed to the park headquarters for canopy walk briefing. Experience the forest from a dazzling perspective on the canopy walkway the only one of its kind in East Africa. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: COLOBUS MONKEY TREK

After breakfast at the Resort, proceed to the park headquarters for briefing and start your Colobus Monkey trek. These Primates are Old World Monkeys of the genus Colobus native to the African continent. They are black with white fur on their necks and backs. As you walk through the rainforest you will be amazed how large they are in number; about 400 individuals in a group comprising the largest group of the Angolan Colobus Monkeys in Africa. This trek isn’t as tiresome as the Chimpanzee trek tends to be. You will see a good number of them at the tree tops as they swing from one tree branch to another. Return to the Resort in time for lunch. Then spend the rest of the day relaxing at the Resort and enjoying its facilities.

Day 8:  HELICOPTER FLIGHT FROM NYUNGWE NATIONAL PARK TO MUSANZE / VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast at the lodge, you will take your helicopter flight to Musanze, where you will meet your driver guide who will drive you to your lodge. Lunch and dinner at the Lodge.

Day 9:  GORILLA TREKKING IN RWANDA

After a very early breakfast at the lodge, you will proceed to the park headquarters for briefing and thereafter drive to the trail heads the start point for your amazing adventure.

You will be trekking the Great Apes, the Mountain Gorillas in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. This activity could take between 2-6 hours. Rwanda has 12 habituated groups of Mountain Gorillas scattered all over the Park. You will spend an hour watching the habituated group going about their normal day playing, eating… etc

Day 10: GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING IN RWANDA

After a very early breakfast at the lodge, drive to the park headquarters for briefing and thereafter drive to the trail heads for another highlight of the Volcanoes National Park, trekking the Golden Monkeys which usually takes 4 hrs. When you encounter the habituated Primates and spend an hour with them as they go about their normal day. The monkeys are playful and inquisitive by nature hence spend their day leaping from bamboo branches. After the trek, you will return to the Resort to have lunch and spend the rest of the day enjoying the lodge facilities.

Day 11: DRIVE TO KISORO  

After breakfast start your journey to Uganda crossing via the Cyanika border. You will proceed to Kisoro town and drive on to your lodge. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.

Day 12: GORILLA TREKKING IN UGANDA

After an early breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters for briefing and thereafter go to the start points and off you will proceed into the Impenetrable Forest to enjoy the highlight of the safari. Trekking the Great Apes the Mountain Gorillas is a once in a lifetime and worthwhile experience which takes between 2–6 hours. Day 13: KISORO – QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will be assisted with checking out and after settling the bill for extras if any start your drive to the famous Queen Elizabeth National Park. The second most visited Park and the most popular savannah reserve in Uganda. This Park has the highest variety of habitats and wildlife too. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.

Day 14: GAME DRIVE AND BOAT RIDE ALONG THE KAZINGA CHANNEL

After an early breakfast, you will proceed for a game drive; through the Kasenyi and North Kazinga plains where you will see herds of Elephants, Buffalos, Antelopes, etc…

In the afternoon after lunch at the lodge, you will have a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel en-route you will see groups of Hippos and Buffalos a few metres away. You will see some animals coming to drink water at the banks and a various bird species.

Day 15: DEPARTURE

We hope that you, your families, teams, and communities are well.

We wish to update you on the Ebola situation in Uganda currently in the affected districts of Mubende and Kasanda. These are transit districts with nothing to stop about or any tourist enroute attraction.

In the affected districts, the situation is under control by the healthy authorities. The public is advised to adhere to the set guideline in preventing the spread of the disease including not coming in to contact with the suspected Ebola victim.

The safety and health of our guests are of the highest priority and we urge them to observe the set guidelines in place as communicated by the Ministry of Health as they enjoy the various sites in the country.

Tourism is open in Uganda and no experience has been suspended. Relatedly, our government also advised tourists against cancellation of bookings to Uganda emphasizing that “the Ebola outbreak is in just two districts of Mubende and Kassanda which are being managed well-given experience from handling past epidemics and pandemics.”

All passengers entering the country through airport and land borders are screened to ensure the safety of every traveler.

If the situation gets unbearable, we will definitely update you on the same.
