Trip highlights for the 6 days double gorilla trek & Batwa:

This 6 days double gorilla trek & Batwa itinerary will take place in Uganda; arriving and departing via Entebbe International Airport. You take return domestic flights enjoying the aerial views of the country from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi Airstrip and proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park home to the Great Apes. You will trek the Mount. Gorillas twice though visiting different habituated groups. You will also take part in the Batwa cultural experience; a tour through the pygmy community living at the boundaries of the park, learn more about them, their history, practices and get to visit their goddess and medicine man.

Day 1:  ARRIVAL

After arriving Entebbe International Airport, you will clear with immigration, proceed to the arrivals where you will meet your driver guide who will transfer you to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2:  ENTEBBE – DRIVE TO BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

You will enjoy a very early breakfast on this day and start your full day’s drive to the South Western part of Uganda crossing the Equator; the imaginary line that divides the earth into two halves. En-route to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park home to the great apes the Mountain Gorillas you will have picnic lunch and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Kigezi hills with countless terrace farms. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.

Day 3:  FIRST GORILLA TREKKING

After an early breakfast; you will proceed to the park headquarters for briefing and thereafter go to the start points and enjoy the highlight of the safari. Trekking the Great Apes the Mountain Gorillas is a once in a lifetime and worthwhile experience which takes between 2–6 hours. You will then return to your Lodge for lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4:  SECOND GORILLA TREKKING

On this day after breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters for briefing once again and thereafter go to the start points. You will get to trek a different Gorilla Habituated group from the one visited the previous day. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.

Day 5: BATWA CULTURAL EXPERIENCE

After a relaxed breakfast and lunch at your Lodge, you will proceed for the activity of the day the Batwa cultural experience. The Batwa people are one of the oldest surviving Indigenous tribes in Africa. And are the original dwellers of this ancient jungle and also referred to as the keepers of the forest. This tour includes a music performance, visiting the goddess, hunting demonstration and an opportunity to learn their lifestyle. This cultural experience was developed by the Batwa pygmies to earn a source of income and share their amazing traditions and heritage with the World. Enjoying a nature walk and hike through the forest seeing the endangered forest in the eyes of its original occupants and learn more about the pygmy people, how they lived, hunted traditionally. You will have an opportunity to visit a Batwa homestead, visit the medicine man and learn how they go about their daily activities. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.

Day 6:  DEPARTURE

We hope that you, your families, teams, and communities are well.

We wish to update you on the Ebola situation in Uganda currently in the affected districts of Mubende and Kasanda. These are transit districts with nothing to stop about or any tourist enroute attraction.

In the affected districts, the situation is under control by the healthy authorities. The public is advised to adhere to the set guideline in preventing the spread of the disease including not coming in to contact with the suspected Ebola victim.

The safety and health of our guests are of the highest priority and we urge them to observe the set guidelines in place as communicated by the Ministry of Health as they enjoy the various sites in the country.

Tourism is open in Uganda and no experience has been suspended. Relatedly, our government also advised tourists against cancellation of bookings to Uganda emphasizing that “the Ebola outbreak is in just two districts of Mubende and Kassanda which are being managed well-given experience from handling past epidemics and pandemics.”

All passengers entering the country through airport and land borders are screened to ensure the safety of every traveler.
