This 7 days Mgahinga & Bwindi gorilla trek itinerary will take place in Uganda; arriving and departing via Entebbe International Airport. You take return domestic flights enjoying the aerial views of the country from Entebbe International Airport to Kisoro Airstrip. You will visit Mgahinga National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park trekking the Great Apes twice at both parks since they are home to the Mount. Gorillas. You will also take part in the Batwa trail experience.

Day 1:  ARRIVAL

After arriving Entebbe International Airport, you will clear with immigration, proceed to the arrivals where you will meet your driver guide who will transfer you to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 2:  DOMESTIC FLIGHT FROM ENTEBBE TO KISORO

Very early breakfast at your hotel, proceed to Entebbe International Airport to catch your domestic flight to Kisoro Airstrip where you will meet your driver guide who will transfer you to your lodge. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 3:  GORILLA TREKKING IN MGAHINGA NATIONAL PARK

After an early breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters for briefing and thereafter go to the start points and off you will proceed for the highlight of the safari. Trekking the Great Apes the Mountain Gorillas is a once in a lifetime and worthwhile experience which takes between 2–6 hours. This group was very mobile group that kept moving from Uganda to Rwanda. You will then return to your Lodge for lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: BATWA TRAIL

After a relaxed breakfast and lunch at your Lodge, you proceed for the activity of the day the Batwa trail experience. This trail starts from the base of Muhuvura cave. This walk could be referred to as a living museum because you will learn about the pygmy tribe that used to live in the Mgahinga National Park who were forced out and dropped their bushman lifestyle and rehabilitated in villages bordering the park. This trail was developed for the Batwa pygmies to share their amazing traditions and heritage with the World and earn a source of income. This walk is conducted by Batwa guides who provides insights on their culture and lifestyle, learn about their past hunting experiences and ways of gathering honey. You will be shown the plants that they used for medicinal purposes and how to make bamboo cups. You will be accepted to visit their “sacred” Ngarama cave once home to the Batwa King. The women will perform a cultural dance for you.

Day 5: KISORO – BUHOMA

After breakfast, you will be assisted with checking out and start your drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Accommodation: Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp (High-end accommodation) or Mantana Engagi Lodge (Medium accommodation)

Day 6:  GORILLA TREKKING

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing and thereafter go to the start points and enjoy the highlight of the safari. Trekking the Gorillas is a once in a lifetime experience which takes between 2–6 hours. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at the Lodge.

Accommodation: Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp (High-end accommodation) or Mantana Engagi Lodge (Medium accommodation)

Day 7:  DEPARTURE

After breakfast at the Lodge, you will be assisted with checking out and proceed to Kihihi Airstrip and take a domestic flight to Entebbe International Airport to catch your departure International flight.

We hope that you, your families, teams, and communities are well.

We wish to update you on the Ebola situation in Uganda currently in the affected districts of Mubende and Kasanda. These are transit districts with nothing to stop about or any tourist enroute attraction.

In the affected districts, the situation is under control by the healthy authorities. The public is advised to adhere to the set guideline in preventing the spread of the disease including not coming in to contact with the suspected Ebola victim.

The safety and health of our guests are of the highest priority and we urge them to observe the set guidelines in place as communicated by the Ministry of Health as they enjoy the various sites in the country.

Tourism is open in Uganda and no experience has been suspended. Relatedly, our government also advised tourists against cancellation of bookings to Uganda emphasizing that “the Ebola outbreak is in just two districts of Mubende and Kassanda which are being managed well-given experience from handling past epidemics and pandemics.”

All passengers entering the country through airport and land borders are screened to ensure the safety of every traveler.

If the situation gets unbearable, we will definitely update you on the same.
