4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking Safari Rwanda & Uganda (Midrange).

Safari Details.

This 4 Days Double Gorilla Trekking Safari Rwanda & Uganda is a rare and extraordinary primate adventure designed for travelers who wish to experience two separate mountain gorilla treks in two iconic destinations: Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda.

Few wildlife experiences on Earth compare to standing just meters away from endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat—doing it twice, in two countries, makes this safari truly exceptional.

Starting from Kigali, this carefully planned cross-border itinerary allows you to compare gorilla behavior, landscapes, and trekking styles between Rwanda’s volcanic slopes and Uganda’s ancient rainforest. The journey is enriched further with a Batwa cultural experience, offering insight into the lives of the original forest inhabitants of Bwindi.

Crafted and operated by All Budget Gorilla Safaris Ltd, this safari uses comfortable midrange accommodations, professional local guides, and ethical tourism practices to ensure a seamless, safe, and unforgettable experience for nature lovers, photographers, and conservation-minded travelers.

Begin your mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park, hiking through bamboo forests and along the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes. The trek can last between 1 to 5 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once located, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing the gorillas watching them feed, groom, and interact within their family group.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and check-out. In the afternoon, depart Rwanda and drive toward Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda. The scenic cross-border journey takes approximately 4–5 hours, including immigration formalities.

Today is the highlight of your safari—the second gorilla trekking experience, this time in the legendary Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.

After an early breakfast, transfer to the Bwindi park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will then enter the ancient rainforest, trekking through thick vegetation, vines, and towering trees in search of your assigned gorilla family.

Bwindi gorilla trekking can take between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. Once found, you will again enjoy one hour in close proximity to these gentle giants—an emotional and deeply moving wildlife encounter that few people ever experience.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided Batwa cultural experience, where you will learn about the traditions, music, hunting methods, and forest survival skills of the Batwa people, the original inhabitants of Bwindi Forest. This visit directly supports community livelihoods and conservation efforts.
