This safari offers double mountain gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park, encounters with golden monkeys, a hike to Dian Fossey’s grave, and exploration of Kigali city’s history and culture. This trip begins and ends in Kigali, making it perfect for combining wildlife adventure with cultural discovery.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Rwanda – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park


Arrive at Kigali International Airport, where our driver-guide will meet you. Travel through scenic Rwandan countryside to Volcanoes National Park. Enjoy evening relaxation and dinner at your lodge.

Day 2: First Gorilla Trekking Encounter


After breakfast, drive to the park headquarters in Kinigi for the briefing at 08:00 am. Embark on your first gorilla trekking adventure in search of a designated gorilla family.

The trek can last 2–8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location.

Enjoy a full hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge in the evening and optionally visit lakes Burera and Ruhondo for scenic views and photography.

Day 3: Second Gorilla Trekking or Golden Monkey Tracking & Dian Fossey Hike


Option 1: Undertake a second gorilla trekking encounter, potentially exploring a different gorilla family for new photographic opportunities and unique jungle experiences.


Option 2: Track golden monkeys, a rare primate species with golden fur, in Volcanoes National Park.


Option 3: Hike to Dian Fossey grave at Karisoke Research Center and pay tribute to her conservation legacy, along with a visit to the grave of Digit, her famous silverback gorilla. The hike lasts 3–4 hours.

Day 4: Kigali City Tour & Departure


After breakfast, embark on a Kigali city tour. Visit:

Kigali Genocide Memorial (Gisozi) – A moving tribute to Rwanda’s 1994 genocide victims

  • Optional cultural visit: local markets, art centers, and heritage sites
    Transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
