Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali – Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Uganda
Your adventure begins with a morning pickup from your Kigali hotel or airport by an experienced guide from All Budget Gorilla Safaris. After a short briefing, you will embark on a scenic drive north through Rwanda’s rolling hills and picturesque villages, crossing the border into Uganda via the Kyanika/Cyanika border.
Once in Uganda, you continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Rushaga sector, home to the habituated gorilla families. Along the way, enjoy scenic countryside, terraced farms, and views of the Virunga volcanoes.
Upon arrival, check in at your lodge or camp near Bwindi. Relax and enjoy lunch while taking in the lush forest surroundings. The afternoon is free for rest or a short guided nature walk near your lodge to acclimatize to the forest environment.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
After an early breakfast, you will depart for the Bwindi Gorilla Trekking headquarters for registration and a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) rangers. You will be assigned a gorilla family for your trek, based on availability and trekking group sizes.
The trek begins as you follow your guide into the dense rainforest, navigating bamboo thickets, fern groves, and steep slopes. Trekking can take 2–5 hours depending on the gorilla family’s location, but every step brings anticipation and excitement.
Once you locate the gorillas, you will have one hour to observe these magnificent creatures. Photograph their social interactions, playful behaviors, and watch the young gorillas explore their forest home. This is a deeply moving wildlife encounter, often described as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
After the trek, return to the park headquarters for your gorilla trekking certificate, a memento of your adventure. Then, transfer back to your lodge for lunch and rest.
In the late afternoon, optionally visit a Batwa pygmy community to learn about their traditional forest survival skills, folklore, and cultural heritage.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Trekking in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda – Return to Kigali
After an early breakfast, you will cross back into Rwanda and drive toward Volcanoes National Park, a sanctuary for the rare golden monkeys. The park is dominated by the Virunga Volcano chain, offering scenic forest trails and volcanic views.
Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you will be briefed on golden monkey trekking. The trek typically lasts 2–3 hours, winding through bamboo and montane forests in search of the playful monkeys.
Golden monkeys are sociable and active, often jumping from tree to tree, allowing for excellent photography opportunities.
After your trekking adventure, enjoy lunch near the park and begin the return drive to Kigali, arriving in the afternoon or evening depending on traffic. Drop-off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport marks the end of this unforgettable 3-day primate safari.
