Day 1: Kampala / Entebbe → Queen Elizabeth National Park

Begin Your Conservation Journey**

Your unforgettable Lion Research & Conservation Safari kicks off early in the morning. Your professional driver-guide from All Budget Gorilla Safaris Ltd meets you at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe before you start the scenic 6–7-hour drive to western Uganda. This beautiful route offers spectacular views of lush hills, green plantations, small towns, crater lakes, rural homesteads, and the towering Rwenzori Mountains, popularly called the Mountains of the Moon.

Midway through the journey, you stop in Fort Portal for lunch and cultural interactions before continuing to the Conservation Initiative a highlight of Day 1.

Upon reaching the Rwenzori region, you join a community-managed tree-planting project. This activity gives you privileged access to lion research zones normally closed to regular tourists. Using professional radio telemetry equipment, researchers track collared lions across the park. You will directly observe:

  • Lion social behavior

  • Territory marking
